Quotes
George Washington

"Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let thoses few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True freindship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appelation."

Julie was sat out in the beer garden of a popular watering hole. Having the usual Friday night drinks with her friends. Something occurred to her, as she looked round at the people she was with, she didn't have a boyfriend. This didn't really bother her that much, but she hated being the odd one out. The one who always went home alone. But this night felt different, different to any other Friday night down the pub.

The time had come for Julie and her friends to move onto the next pub. Julie thought that they were off to the Dog and Bone as usual. But Alice said that they were off to a different one, one that they all had been to before but didn't often go to. It was Alice's suggestion to go to the Cricker and Wicket. She likes going there to meet up with several of her friends she used to go to school with. But Julie hates this pub. Due to the fact that her ex-boyfriend, Toby, is always down there. She didn't mind that so much; it was because he was bound to be there with his new girlfriend, Michelle.

Julie hated Michelle with a passion she couldn't explain. On the outside she also hated Toby as well but deep inside she still loved him despite what he did. Cheating on Julie with Michelle was an unforgiveable act in most people's eyes but Julie's heart had forgiven him. Even though her mind still remembered the pain he caused her.

Julie and her friends had only been in the pub about ten minutes when Julie felt someone tap her on the shoulder. She turned round and her heart skipped a beat. It was Toby. She wasn't expecting to see his face, not without Michelle being five feet away watching his everymove. But she wasn't there. This puzzled Julie somewhat, but she wasn't going to let it bother her.

"Hello", he said with a smile on his face.
"Hello", said Julie who also had a smile on her face. Julie could still feel the spark between them.
"So what brings you to this pub?", asked Toby.
"It was Alice's idea. She wanted to meet up with a few of her old friends, so we all decided to tag along."
"Where is Alice now?", said Toby looking round the pub.
"Over there", she pointed to the comfy chairs in the far corner of the pub. Toby turned round to see Alice getting comfy in one of the spare chairs waiting for her boyfriend, Mark, to bring over her drink he was buying at the bar.
"Vodka and Orange please", Julie said to the person behind the bar. "Do you want one?", she said turning to Toby.
"Go on then. Mines a pint"
"And a pint of Stella as well"

Julie paid for the drinks. She and Toby went and found a table in a different part of the pub. Why they did this Julie couldn't work out. But she was glad that she was spending time alone with Toby. Something she had wanted to do for two months, but didn't have the courage to pick up the phone to call him. To see if he wanted to meet up for a drink.

.oO-Oo.

A couple of hours had passed. Something Toby and Julie hadn't realised. They both had a few drinks inside them and were having a laugh as well as getting quite close. But there was something bugging Julie. She was wondering whether Toby was still with Michelle. This puzzled her because he was out on his own and none of his friends were about either.

"How come your out on your own?", she blurted out. Regretting it immediately.
"I needed to get out", he replied.
"Oh?"
"Me and Michelle are...", there was a pause, "are having a few problems"
Not wanting to look pleased, Julie gave him a sympathetic smile.
"To be perfectly honest", he continued, " I've been thinking about you... a lot."
This shocked Julie. She was expecting this answer. It was something she wanted to hear but she still wasn't expecting it.
"And Michelle has picked up on this", he continued. "I want to end it but I don't know how."
"I'm afraid I can't help you there", replied Julie.
"I know", he said with a sullen look on his face.

Julie picked up on his upset and moved round the table and gave Toby a friendly hug. Toby hugged her back. This was something she remembered quite vividly and had longed for. She enjoyed it nonetheless.

Julie was the first to pull away. They both looked at each other knowing what was about to happen next. Toby put his hand on Julie's cheek and leaned foward. The hussle and bustle of the pub seemed to quieten around them. Oblivious to what was happening. Then it happened, they kissed! To Julie it felt wonderful. Different to all the other kisses she had received from Toby when they were together. It was almost as if this kiss was meant to be. It felt special. Julie knew that this meant she and Toby were getting back together. Something she had wanted for two months was finally happening and she was happy. Happy more than ever before.
